 Summer is the season for fun in the sun. However, that doesn’t mean it’s safe for your skin. Summer comes with its own challenges, and most of them impact our skin.

The heat, humidity, and increased sun exposure can wreak havoc on your complexion. But we’ve got you covered! The 11 tips below will keep your skin glowing and healthy all summer. 

Keep Your Skin Hydrated 

You already knew this was going to come first. Hydration is crucial for maintaining healthy skin, especially in the summer. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin plump and hydrated from the inside out.

Form the habit of carrying a reusable water bottle with you and sipping regularly to ensure you’re getting enough water.

Use a Light-Weight Weight Moisturizer 

During the hot summer months, switch to a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer. Heavy ones can feel greasy and clog your pores, leading to breakouts.

Go for a water-based or gel-based moisturizer that will hydrate your skin without making it feel oily and uncomfortable all through the day. That way, you feel both hydrated and comfortable.

Don’t Forget to Use Sunscreen 

Make sunscreen your best friend every summer. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and apply it generously to all exposed skin.

Remember to reapply every two hours, or more often if you’re swimming or sweating. This will help prevent sunburn and reduce the risk of skin cancer. 

Opt for Minimal Makeup

Summer is the time to opt for a more natural look. Heavy makeup can melt and clog your pores in the heat. Instead, use a tinted moisturizer or BB cream for light, breathable coverage.

Add a bit of waterproof mascara and a tinted lip balm, and you’re good to go! Your makeup will last all day without making you feel uncomfortable. 

Soothe Sunburns Naturally 

Despite our best efforts, sunburns can happen. If you find yourself with painful burns, soothe your skin naturally without aloe vera. Apply pure aloe vera gel directly to the affected area for instant relief and to help speed up the healing process.

It’s both cooling and hydrating and reduces inflammation. Aloe vera is one of the most cost-effective gels that can naturally heal sunburns.

Exfoliate Regularly 

Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells, allowing your skin to breathe and glow. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to keep your skin smooth and radiant.
