You know when you leave a computer running with too many tabs on, it slows down its performance. That’s the same thing stress does to you, especially when it’s been building over time.

It’s important to relieve yourself of stress daily, so it doesn’t build up and break you down. But it’s not so easy, is it? Keep reading to see how to beat stress and feel light.

Master Your Time

It’s the same thing as time management and this is one thing that can never be overemphasized. You need to learn how to manage your time by planning.

Plan all your activities, so you know what you’re to do per time. This way, you won’t run around with 1 million things still left undone. Plus, you’ll know what to expect and things won’t get so overwhelming.

Take Some Time Out

Don’t always be so engrossed with getting things done that you forget to take some time out for yourself. This helps relieve you of stress, removes your mind from your workload, and calms your nerves.

It could be a quick one, but no matter how little time you spend catching your breath, it’s always worth it. It keeps you cool enough to face your other tasks.

Hit the Sheets

Yes, I said it. Hit the sheets and sleep. Sleep is not your enemy, neither is it a luxury that you can’t afford. You only feel it is because you’ve not been able to plan your time properly.

So, make room for sleep and make your room the most comfortable place you can be. It’s important that when you get that sleep, it will be worth it. It’s not about how long you sleep, but how well.

Cultivate Joy

Being joyful and happy is one easy way to tell stress off. When overworking, it may be difficult to stay happy. But, you have to deliberately think about the things you love to do. Think of your favorite memories, things that make you happy, and so on.

Don’t wait for joy to come knocking because it may not. Have a time in your day when you do the things you love the most.

Be a Friend of Greens

You know what greens are? They’re veggies. They’re packed with nutrients and can boost your health, power you up, and also help you fight stress.

With veggies, you’re building your immune system so, you won’t feel weak or break down easily. They also clean up your system and fix any damage that stress would have caused. So, treasure greens and add them to your daily routine.

Breathe Deep

Every remote has a ‘pause’ or ‘stop’ button for a reason. When things work for some time, they should stop or take a pause, and it’s the same for you. You should know when to stop or when to take that pause and just breathe.

It’s like a subtle thing that stops stress because it’s you telling your brain to relax, that everything is going to be okay. So, whenever you’ve done a lot, breathe.

Laugh It Off

Laughing is a real cheat code against stress. When you laugh, everything gets lighter. In that moment, you forget all about the stress and troubles of the day.

Just like I said earlier, you shouldn’t wait for joy to come to you. Don’t wait for something funny to happen either before you laugh. Just laugh. You’ll be sending happy signals to your brain that would naturally calm you down.

Connect With Friends

When you’re having a stressful day, connect with friends. They’re special people to us and being with or talking to them can help us unwind.

You can laugh, share stories, and be yourself. You could even be helping them relieve their stress too by talking to them. So, reach out to your buddies and you’ll feel much better and stronger.

Mindful Meditation

The world is noisy. There’s so much rush and so much to do with little or no time to rest. Now, in the middle of all that craziness, you can make it quiet in your mind.

Find a comfy spot, sit or lie down, take slow breaths in and out, and you’ll feel refreshed. You can also visualize being in a relaxing place you want to be or doing a relaxing thing you want to do.

Learn From Challenges 

This comes in handy especially when you take on a new role or job. Or, when you get involved in something you haven’t done before. It may be stressful at first and things would seem messed up but, don’t be scared.

Take it one step and a time and tell yourself you can do it. You’re training your mind to see a way out and be able to handle issues. Soon, you’ll be a pro at it, like you were born for that particular situation.

Dance It Out

It’s your body that understands the magic of dancing. That’s why when your favorite music comes on, you start moving to the beat subconsciously.

So, intentionally dance, play your favorite tune, and shake the stress all out. You don’t have to be a choreographer. And there’s no right and wrong way to do it. Just let yourself be happy and dance.
