You’ll Never Wash Your Feather Pillows Any Other Way after Reading This

Feather pillows are lofty, and fluffy and we love keeping them close at nights because they make us feel cozy and comfy!

But imagine all the oils, sweat, and beauty products they collect! Thankfully, washing them is easy, and you don’t have to do the hard work yourself—your washer and dryer do it for you! So, let’s dive into how to wash your pillows properly and keep them lasting longer!

1. Why Wash Your Feather Pillows?

Feather pillows are great for support but absorb oils, sweat, and drool over time. Regular washing is key to keeping feather pillows clean, fluffy, and smelling fresh.

Plus, it feels so good to lay your head on a clean pillow, doesn’t it? With some care, your pillows can stay comfy and fresh, giving you better sleep.

2. How Often Should You Wash Feather Pillows?

Plan to wash your pillows at least twice a year. If they feel flat or have stains, it’s time for a wash. But don’t overdo it! Washing too often can strip the natural oils from your feather pillows, leaving them less fluffy.

A good rule is to keep pillow protectors on them, which will help extend the time between washes.

3. How to Wash Feather Pillows? Start with Pre-Wash Prep

If you want to learn how to wash fluffy pillows, you should start with the pre-wash prep. Before you throw your pillows in the wash, inspect them for any tears or rips. You wouldn’t want feathers flying everywhere, would you?

Also, treat any stains beforehand. Use a gentle, enzyme-based stain remover to get rid of those sweat or drool spots. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, and you’ll be good to go!

4. Time to Wash

Washing feather pillows is easier than you think. To keep the load balanced, pop two pillows into the washing machine. Use a gentle detergent and a gentle cycle.

Set the water temperature to warm—not hot—to remove dirt and oils. And whatever you do, don’t use fabric softener. It’ll coat the feathers and make your feather pillows less fluffy.

5. Extra Rinse for Extra Freshness

After the wash cycle, it’s essential to run an extra rinse. Why? Leftover detergent can weigh down your feather pillows, making them feel less fluffy.

An extra rinse ensures that all the detergent is washed out, leaving your pillow clean and light. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in keeping your pillows in top shape!

6. Drying Your Feather Pillows

Now that your pillows are clean, drying them properly is the next big step. The key to drying fluffy pillows is making sure they’re completely dry.

Any leftover moisture can cause a musty smell or even mold. Use your dryer on medium heat, and toss in a few wool dryer balls to help fluff and redistribute the feathers as they dry.

7. Redistributing the Feathers

Before you start drying, give your feather pillows a shake to spread the filling around. This makes sure the feathers don’t clump up.

As your pillows dry, take them out every 20 minutes to fluff and shake them again. This step will keep your feather pillow as lofty and comfortable as possible.

8. Fluffing with Dryer Balls

Dryer balls aren’t just for fun—they’re a game-changer for drying pillows! Throw in three to six wool dryer balls with your pillows.

They help break up the clumps of feathers and speed up the drying time. By the time your pillows are fully dry, they’ll feel as fluffy as when you first got them.

9. How Long Do Feather Pillows Take to Dry?

Drying feather pillows takes time, so be patient! It can take a few cycles to get them fully dry. Check every 20 minutes, fluff them, and put them back in the dryer.

You’re good to go once there are no clumps and the pillows feel completely dry! Trust me, it’s worth the wait to get those perfectly fluffed feather pillows you love.

10. Try These Quick Refresh Tips

If your pillows feel a little flat but don’t need a full wash, just toss them in the dryer for 15 minutes on medium heat. This helps fluff them up.

Alternatively, if you prefer a natural method, let your feather pillow sit in the sunlight for a few hours. Sunlight not only fluffs but also refreshes them, killing any bacteria and drying out moisture.

Your Feather Pillows Are Fresh, Fluffy, and Ready for Bed!

Taking care of your feather pillows doesn’t have to be hard. With these simple steps, your pillows will stay fresh, fluffy, and comfy for years to come.

Whether you are washing or just giving them a quick refresh, your feather pillow will always feel like new. So, would you wash your pillow again after reading this?
