Your home deserves some degree of transformation—that aesthetic touch that’ll make you the envy of your visitors. Whether you’re upgrading your current space or changing apartments, it’s time to explore fresh interior design styles to complement your exquisite taste.

Fortunately, we’ve got just what you need—top ideas, straight from the lips of interior designers that’ll make your home heaven on earth. Let’s check them out.

Minimalist Designs

This design style keeps things as simple as possible. If you can clear out your space and retain only the absolutely necessary stuff—furniture and all, then you are ready for this modern design idea.

You need lots of lighting, simple pieces of furniture, natural tones, and a neutral color palette too. Aim for a clean and spacious apartment so that everything needs a place and a reason.

Industrial Interior Design

This design isn’t ideal for small houses, because as the name suggests, it gives your interior that industry-style aesthetic. As such, you’ll require plenty of space and large pieces of furniture to pull this off.

Industrial interior design is also defined by unfinished metals, raw wood, and a neutral color pattern. This style is easy to bring to life in the bedroom, especially if there are large windows to consolidate the idea.

Scandinavian Interior Design

This design takes functionality and efficiency into major consideration, characterizing white walls, natural materials, and as little color as possible. This makes it very easy to implement.

Only a single textile element such as a rug or a throw blanket is enough to introduce a significant pop of color to this design. Also, keep it as minimalist as possible and use lighter wood.

Bohemian Interior Design

Bohemian Interiors are what you get when you marry vintage furnishing and enchanting crystals. There are no rules here. Just fill the room with any items that reflect your personal experiences and you are good to go.

For example, if you love hiking, you can imitate the travelers who returned with boho prints from India in the 60s and 70s. “If you want a lot of prints, a lot of textures, and just about anything under the sun, a boho-themed house is a perfect place for you,” says Paige Anderson, an interior designer.

Transitional Interior Design

Why mix traditional and modern designs when you can have the best of both worlds with transitional interior design? The color scheme for this aesthetic is as simplistic as it gets—light, neutral, and natural wood.

Prepare to introduce some solid wood furniture, large decorative pieces, and contemporary upholstery. Don’t forget that regardless of what you add, there should always be a lot of space left with this design.

Rustic Interior Design

The rustic design brings to life the story of the Stone Age in a modern form, featuring natural finishes, stone, raw wood, and leather. The style works well in a country family home as well as a bustling New York City apartment.

The color tone is neutral and the atmosphere is pretty warm. You will enjoy its comfort, practicality, and functionality.

Japanese Interior Design

If you are familiar with Japanese culture, you shouldn’t be surprised that Japanese interior design is big on structure and order. Even the flowers follow a specific arrangement.

In addition, the concept is minimalist; luxury is kept at a minimum and the furniture is modest. There are bamboo tables, tatami lamps, and preferably shoji. Plus, the most popular colors are cream, milky, and light beige.

French Country Interior Design

This design is a meeting point between the French and farmhouse interiors. The furniture is minimal but functional, consisting of muted color hues, modest coffee tables and dining tables, and distressed vintage accessories.

It comprises lots of wooden and natural materials that reflect elegance. Also prepare to infuse grand lighting, robust gallery walls, and antique and eclectic pieces to elevate the look.

Retro Interior Design

The retro design gives off a “blast from the past” look but with a twist—it accommodates modern materials and finishes. This design has also made its peace with lots of contrasting colors in an arbitrary and unbalanced way.

Basically, the retro interior design encourages you to break the rules as much as you want. However, the color palette should always be dominated by bright neutrals and non-neutrals for the best results. Also bring in large furnishings such as footstools, hanging pod chairs, and bean bags.

Maximalist Interior Design

Finally, we’ve reached the other end of the tunnel! In contrast to the laid-back and conservative minimalist designs, the maximalist style is pretty explosive. It demands that you do more of everything.

Splash multiple colors around the place, more fabrics, more accessories. Basically, it means more playfulness. Although it gives you the freedom to be bold, loud, and busy, make sure everything is done with a purpose.

Cottagecore Interior Design

According to Lindsey Jamison, a well-celebrated designer, the idea of  cottagecore is simply “slowed-down rural life, where one is more harmonious with nature and romanticizes the simple things in life”

It reflects the self-sufficient lifestyle of the farm setting where items such as delicate floral prints, soft textiles, handmade decor, vintage-inspired furniture pieces, artworks, and accessories hold sway. The choice is up to you.
